Past Perfect is a song about the emotional tidal wave of feelings when love is ending. The album track is a lush panoramic widescreen piece with sweeping strings and hypnotic downtempo drums, but this live session taken from a BBC appearance is virtually acoustic and by comparison very minimal. But the strength of the song is emotionally potent in both version.
